Please join the Candidate Services Advisory Group for the first in a series of Cyber Chats geared towards Candidates. In this first Cyber Chat, Kevin Cox will be responding to questions about how people without relevant work experience can navigate through Human Resource Departments and get their foot into the financial industry. These Cyber Chats will take place in the CFA Community, so you must create a profile in the Community in order to participate (see below for details on how to access the Community and the Chat).

Sample Questions:

• Have you seen any new employment trends in the industry recently?
• Will there be opportunities in any new / non-traditional areas of finance?
• Which specializations are hot now and will be hot over the next few years?
• What can candidates with less experience (0-5 years) do to get their resume in front of the hiring manager?
• What do companies look for in younger / less experienced candidates?
• Are there any hints you could give younger applicants?
• Are there any hints you could give people trying to transition into finance after working in another industry?

Presenter Background Information:
Mr. Cox is Vice President in the Talent Acquisition Group at Northern Trust since Sept 2008, supporting Northern Trust Global Investments, the asset management arm of The Northern Trust Company. Prior to that, Mr. Cox was an Executive Recruiter with Access Search, Inc. in Chicago, focusing on Accounting and Finance placements in the Chicagoland area. He graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelors degree in Accounting, followed by an M.B.A.
