David Baeckelandt has published more than three dozen articles on the nexus of finance and history (primarily in The Journal of Financial History, Scripophily, Paper Money , etc.). Baeckelandt's current work in progress is called Chicago's Financial Firsts, and is a survey of financial innovations that can be traced to Chicago. Baeckelandt is responsible for marketing and client contact to plan sponsors and consultants in the U.S. and offshore. He has been in the institutional investment management sales industry since 1988. Prior to joining the firm he was a business leader at Mercer Investment Consulting and set up and ran the Japan office of William Blair & Co. Mr. Baeckelandt is a graduate of the University of Illinois where he earned both his B.A. and M.A. in History.
Jon Brorson is the portfolio manager and head of Agriculture investment team at Mesirow Financial. He has 27 years of institutional investment experience and previously served as the co-founder and portfolio manager of AgraShares, LLC. Previously Brorson also served as managing director and head of growth equity for Lehman Brothers; director of equities at the Northern Trust Co.; and founding principal of Hartline Investment Corp. Brorson has owned and farmed 600 acres since 1998. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He earned his M.B.A. from DePaul University and his B.A. from North Park University. He is a member of CFA Institute and a National Covenant Properties board member.
Russell Campbell is the CEO of Your Second Opinion, LLC, a management consulting firm dedicated to assisting leaders of investment management firms with business strategy. Russell has led the following five investment groups in his career: CEO, Marco Consulting Group (CIO outsourcing and consulting); Executive Vice President, Amcore Bank, responsible for the Investment and Trust Group (wealth management); President and CEO, ABN AMRO Asset Management Holdings Inc. (institutional/mutual fund/private client); CEO, ABN AMRO Asset Management Canada, Inc. (institutional investment); Vice - President and Partner, Beutel Goodman, Inc. (investment counsel); Vice - President, Bank of Nova Scotia (pension fund investments); Assistant Vice - President, James P. Marshall, Inc. (pension consulting); Institutional equity sales, Greenshields Inc. (investment adviser); Portfolio manager, Guardian Trust, Inc. (commodity portfolios). Russell has an MBA in Investment Finance and Marketing from York University, and he has earned a BA in Industrial Relations from McGill University. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in France. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and has attended both the Financial Analyst's Seminar and the Investment Management Workshop. Russell has also acquired the Certified Financial Planner certification. Russell has been a director of several for-profit and not for profit boards and he is a member of numerous non-profit, civic and industry organizations. He is quoted frequently in the media and has been a speaker at many industry conferences.
Tim Greive, CFA, is a contract recruiter and advisor to innovative firms in the capital markets. He has worked on-site with some of the largest hedge funds and Forbes 400 family offices in Chicago and New York. Prior to his consulting work, he was a Portfolio Manager at Hartline Investment Corporation and a Merger Arbitrage and Event Driven Analyst with PEAK6 Investments. He has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, Investor's Business Daily, Bloomberg and eFinancialCareers. He majored in Finance at The Ohio State University and received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
