Novartis (NYSE: NVS) is a world leader in healthcare with core businesses in pharmaceuticals, generics, consumer health, eye care and animal health. It was formed in 1996 through the merger of Sandoz and Ciba-Geigy. Novartis has a strong product portfolio as well as a healthy pipeline of drugs, making it the leader in new product approvals amongst the top ten pharma companies, over the last three years.

Key products include Diovan , the leader in a new class of drugs for hypertension, and Glivec /Gleevec , an innovative breakthrough treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). The Company expects to continue its current growth momentum with pharmaceutical sales anticipated to increase approximately 10%, and net income expected to exceed last year's results.

Urs Andre Naegelin

Urs is Chief Financial Officer. He joined the Group in 1974 as a staff member of the Treasury Group after having completed his (equivalent) Master's Degree in Economics at the University of Basel, Switzerland. In 1978, he became Head of Finance for the affiliated chemical company in Kobe, Japan.

In 1986, he moved to the United States to become CFO for the Chemical Company located in Charlotte, NC. He was responsible for Financial Operations, IT, Materials Management.

From 1994 to 2000, he was Chief Financial Officer at the Pharmaceutical Operation in East Hanover, NJ.

John Menditto

John Menditto is Director, Investor Relations for Novartis Corporation in North America. Prior to joining Novartis in June 2001, he was Investor Relations Manager for Infogrames North America, a global interactive software developer. Prior to Infogrames, he spent several years in various roles, including Account Supervisor at Makovsky & Company, a public and investor relations agency in New York City, and was an associate with The MWW Group, a public and investor relations agency based in New Jersey. He holds a B.A. in Public Relations and a minor in Finance from Susquehanna University.
