Jeremy Grantham The investment management industry's prime motivation is to stay employed! The risk of following your convictions, and doing what you believe is right for your clients, has been overwhelmed by the fear of being wrong and alone! In the money management business, this has led most investors to go the route of following the herd and is a pattern that has been recurrent throughout history leading to dramatic asset bubbles and busts in the financial system. As participants and observers of history in the making, this time around the collapse of the financial markets is having far greater consequences in the global economy.
