In October 2000, Alan J. Lacy was named president and chief executive officer, becoming the fourteenth CEO in Sears' 117-year history. In December 2000, he also was named chairman of the board.

Sears, Roebuck and Co. is a leading provider of apparel, home and automotive products and home services, with annual revenues of more than $41 billion. The company serves families in the U.S. through a variety of stores nationwide, including approximately 870 Sears full-line stores. Sears also offers a wide variety of merchandise and services through catalogs and its Web sites, www.sears.com and www.landsend.com.

Lacy joined Sears in 1994 as senior vice president of finance and was named executive vice president and chief financial officer the following year. He served as president of Sears Credit in 1997 and was named president of Sears Services before becoming CEO.

Lacy serves on the boards of directors of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Field Museum of Natural History and the National Retail Federation.

Lacy graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in industrial management and earned an MBA at Emory University.
