International Investing - Frontier Markets

In recent years, investors have become increasingly comfortable with the concept of investing a portion of their portfolios in non-US securities as a way to diversify and reduce risk. Given that the majority of the world's public equities trade outside of the US, international investing offers enormous opportunities. Some investors have gone beyond developed and emerging markets and into smaller "frontier" markets that might offer even greater informational inefficiencies and diversification benefits than their larger brethren. Please join Nick Padgett, Managing Director of Frontaura Capital, for a discussion highlighting the opportunities available in frontier markets.

Attendees should be prepared to make a 1 - 2 minute pitch for their favorite investments in emerging or frontier markets.

About Nick Padgett
Nick Padgett co-founded Frontaura Capital LLC in 2007 to invest in public companies in frontier markets after researching and visiting frontier companies and stock exchanges in Africa. In 19 months since inception, Frontaura has outperformed the MSCI Frontier Markets Index by 37 percentage points on a total returns basis after fees. Mr. Padgett previously was a sell-side analyst, covering technology for William Blair & Co., and later was chief financial officer of technology services firm Inforte, leading the company's IPO. Mr. Padgett has held the CFA charter since 1997. He is a 1994 M.B.A. graduate of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and he graduated summa cum laude from Western Illinois University in 1988 with a B.S. in computer science.
