John D. Cobb joined Ventas, Inc. (NYSE:VTR) as Senior Vice President, Chief Investment Officer in 2010. Previously, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Senior Lifestyle Corporation, where he led the strategic direction of a 9,000+ unit retirement company with over 3,400 employees. Prior to that, he held various positions with GE Healthcare Financial Services, a division of General Electric Capital Corporation, which is a subsidiary of General Electric Corporation, with the last being Senior Managing Director, where he led a team focused on debt and equity investments of healthcare real estate totaling over $9 billion. Mr. Cobb has served as a director of the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry (NIC). He is currently a member of the Executive Board of the American Seniors Housing Association. Mr. Cobb holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Lehigh University.

Jon DeLuca manages operations and strategic development for Senior Lifestyle Corporation and its portfolio of more than 80 properties. Working with SLC's senior management team, Mr. DeLuca leads the company's growth through acquisitions and new development. Mr. DeLuca previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Senior Lifestyle Corporation from July 1998 to June 2001. Prior to rejoining Senior Lifestyle in 2011, he spent nine years as the Co-President and Chief Financial Officer of Horizon Bay Retirement Living. Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Allied Capital Corporation, a specialist in senior debt and mezzanine finance to small and medium size companies. Mr. DeLuca is a member of the Owner/Operator Advisory Board to the National Investment Center's Board of Directors. Mr. DeLuca graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a B.B.A. in Accounting.

Kevin McMeen is a Co-Founder of MidCap Financial, a private finance company focused on the healthcare industry. As President of the real estate business, Mr. McMeen is responsible for originating, underwriting and managing the real estate debt portfolio. Prior to joining MidCap, Mr. McMeen led the real estate lending practice for Merrill Lynch Capital Healthcare Finance. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch Capital, he led the healthcare real estate segment of GE Healthcare Commercial Finance and its predecessor, Heller Healthcare Finance. Mr. McMeen serves as Chairman of the board of directors of the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing and Care Industries. He has also served on the advisory board of the Erickson Executive Education program at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and is an active member of the American Seniors Housing Association. Mr. McMeen also serves on the board of the Medical Research Institute Council, a Chicago based philanthropic organization that raises money to fund basic and clinical research for Children's Memorial Hospital, and the board of the Center for Conflict Resolution, a Chicago-based non-profit organization providing mediation services to resolve disputes outside the court system. He holds an M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from Georgia Tech and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin.

David Watkins, CFA, developed the strategy for Heitman's $400 million senior housing investment program and has ongoing responsibilities in the sector. He is responsible for overseeing Heitman's investment research in Europe and Asia and is a member of the firm's international investment and valuation committees. Prior to joining Heitman, Mr. Watkins worked as a real estate investment consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and as a pension investment consultant at Ennis Knupp. His research has appeared in journals, including NIC Review (Best Paper awarded in 1997), Investment Policy, Financial Analysts Journal, Real Estate Issues and Journal of Real Estate Research. He has spoken at industry conferences, including NIC, ERES, ARES, NCREIF, NAREIM, and RERI. Mr. Watkins earned a B.A. degree from Amherst College (hons.) and an M.B.A. degree in finance and statistics from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He earned the CFA designation in 1992, is a member of the CFA Institute and a member of the NIC board of directors. Mr. Watkins is a Fellow of the Homer Hoyt Institute and a Real Estate Research Institute advisory board member.

Arnold Whitman is the Founder and Chairman of Formation Capital, a leading equity investor in the seniors housing and care industry, and Co-Chairman of Genesis HealthCare. Over the past 10 years, Mr.Whitman has strategically led Formation Capital in its growth and execution of over $6 billion in transactions. Mr. Whitman is a current board member and Chairman Emeritus of the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing and Care Industries (NIC). His other interests in the "seniors" business include being a Principal in Primecare Properties, and a board member of Care Institute. Mr. Whitman's 25-year career has allowed him extensive speaking engagements both domestically and internationally. He has written and been featured in many publications including National Real Estate Investor, McKnight's Long Term Care News, SeniorCare Investor, Contemporary Long Term Care, Assisted Living Today, Modern Healthcare and Real Estate Forum.


Robert G. Kramer is the Founder and President of the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry (NIC), a non-profit education and resource center that serves debt and equity investors interested in the seniors housing and long term care industry. NIC is the leading provider of research as well as business and financial performance data on this segment for capital providers. NIC's focus is to advance the quality of seniors housing and care by facilitating informed investment decisions through driving increased transparency for investors. Mr. Kramer, a frequent writer and speaker on trends in seniors housing and long term care, has directed NIC since its inception in 1991. A former county government official and Maryland state legislator, Mr. Kramer was a leader on health and environmental issues while representing the state capital of Annapolis in the 1980s. Mr. Kramer was educated at Harvard and Oxford Universities and also holds a Masters of Divinity degree from Westminster Theological Seminary.
