Program Description:
Investing In The Era of Near-Zero Rates And Near-Zero Growth

The US and European economies have been, under the impact of sustained injections of financial heroin, slipping away from capitalist norms and slowly sliding toward lotusland stasis (as described in "The Odyssey"). The winners in Washington are those best able to convince voters that they feel their pain and will alleviate it. Unemployed workers by the millions disappear from the jobless rolls, adapting to the rapidly-evolving range of maladies warranting retirement on disability and food stamps. Companies hoard cash, rejecting risk-taking. Pension funds find that the Efficient Frontier of The Capital Asset Pricing Model no longer works as sovereign debts gradually lose their risk-free status and low interest rates as guaranteed by central banks render 7%-8% projections of future returns the stuff only dreams are made on. How do we emerge from this surreal condition and return to vigorous economic growth with interest rates returning to normalcy and the bond market returning to allocating capital according to capitalist principles?
