CFA Society Chicago has named John P. Calamos, Sr., the recipient of the annual Hortense Friedman, CFA, Award for Excellence. John is chairman and global chief investment officer of Calamos Investments, the firm he founded in 1977.
With more than 50 years of industry experience, he is often quoted as an authority on risk-managed investment strategies, markets, and the economy. He is a frequent speaker at investment conferences around the world and regularly appears in prominent industry media.
In addition to receiving many awards for his accomplishments as an entrepreneur, he has been honored for his lifetime of philanthropic contributions. John will accept the award at the CFA Society Chicago 39th Annual Dinner on Nov. 5.
Named in her honor, the Hortense Friedman Award is presented each year by the Board of Directors to a member of the Chicago investment community who has demonstrated initiative, leadership, and a commitment to professional excellence.
