The event will kick off with a keynote address followed by an exploration of the four topics in sustainable finance and their implications for fixed income investing via moderated panel discussions with time for Q&A. The conference will also feature a presentation on the current state of EU sustainable investing rules and regulations as well as an announcement of the FIASI/Fordham University Third Annual Corporate Social Responsibility and ESG Investing in Fixed Income Research Competition winners. The winners will be invited back to present their research papers at a later date.

Manuel Cidre Miranda is a Puerto Rican businessman and politician. He ran as in independent candidate for Governor of Puerto Rico in 2016, an election won by Ricardo Rosselló. In 2020, he was appointed by Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi Secretary of the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce.
Secretary Cidre arrived in Puerto Rico from his native Cuba at a young age. In 1978 he and his brother started a company in Bayamon named “Los Cidrines”, which sells bakery goods and bread in Puerto Rico. The company also sells in the US market, with this operation managed by his sister.

CFA Society Chicago Partnership with the Greenwood Project
The Greenwood Project is a Chicago-based non-profit whose mission is to introduce minority students to careers in the finance industry. They support scholars from high school into their early career, serving as an educational resource and opportunity generator. The Greenwood Project’s programs include summer courses for high school students that focus on finance topics, specifically financial technology. Their flagship program is a 6-week college internship program where students are matched with prestigious internship opportunities and provided with support to help them achieve at the highest levels in their roles.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- • With the continued impact of COVID-19 lingering in our industry,their most pressing need is for companies to take on virtual volunteers for our summer 2020 internships. This year, they are two-week long virtual internships where a team of 5 scholars tackles a project submitted by an employee or team.
• Volunteer to lead Virtual Career Talks, where volunteers discuss their career pathway and answer questions from our students.
• Volunteer to lead workshops for our high school institutes coming up in July and August. These workshops range from soft-skills (like Verbal and Written Communication) to industry-specific sills (like Company Valuation).
