Qualified students can enjoy most of the benefits and privileges of a Regular CFA Society Chicago Membership at a greatly reduced rate. ANNUAL DUES

$60 (Paid to CFA Society Chicago)

Membership with CFA Institute not required). Dues are collected on an annual basis from July 1 – June 30. Dues are not pro-rated.

Online Application Checklist

  • To be accepted for membership, an applicant is required to submit the Student Membership Application, which must be signed by a Professor of finance, business or economics at the college/university at which the student is enrolled or by a CFA charterholder member.**

  • An undergraduate student enrolled full-time in a university/college, pursuing a bachelor’s of art or science degree or a graduate student, enrolled full or part-time, pursuing a master’s degree. PhD students are also welcome to apply.

  • Prepare and submit a typewritten, original 200-500 word essay on the importance of ethics in the conduct of business in the global economy,

  • Enclose a copy of the applicant’s current class schedule or unofficial transcript,

  • Enclose $60 membership dues, payable by check (made out to CFA Society Chicago), money order, or credit card.

  • Agree to be bound by CFA Society Chicago’s Code of Ethics.

To Maintain Membership

To maintain a student membership, renewing student members must submit a Student Membership Renewal Application affirming their student status, along with payment of membership dues and an updated copy (as applicable) of their student ID.

Student Membership Applications are processed at the end of each month by CFA Society Chicago’s Membership Engagement Advisory Group, with recommendation for approval by CFA Society Chicago’s Board of Directors.

 

*Regular, Affiliate, and Candidate members who pay full membership dues receive two (2) function tickets that can be used towards almost any CFA Society Chicago event. Retired members receive one (1) function ticket. Student members do not receive any function tickets. 

** Your references can be from anyone of your choosing. Supervisor references are preferred but not required. Students only need one (1) sponsor — a Professor OR a CFA charterholder. Note: In order to waive the supervisor sponsor requirement, you must e-mail CFA Institute at cmservices@cfainstitute.org explaining why you are not submitting a supervisor sponsor.
